The Unit C has significant expertise in the control of Asset Declarations and Financial Statements, as over the past seven years (2016-2022) it has been the Oversight Body for “Source of Funds” with the most categories of obligated persons (355), the most co-responsible agencies of obligated persons (approximately 3,800), and supervises, regarding the submission and control process of Source of Funds Declarations, a vast number of individuals (an average of approximately 80,000 per year).

The control of Asset Declarations and Financial Statements, contributing to ensuring transparency as a measure for the prevention and suppression of corruption, tax evasion, and illicit enrichment, acts as a deterrent mechanism against the exploitation of the position of public officials and citizens, who due to their professional status play a critical role in the management of public money. Moreover, the operation of the C’ Unit within the broader framework of the Authority, as one of its three main Units, provides an additional distinct capability for cross-checking for indications of the involvement of monitored persons in activities suspected of money laundering from criminal activities (“money laundering”).
